According to the study at least, they claim to have seen a statistically significant difference in human trials with moderate coffee consumption. Whether the trials were well done is another question of course. :)

Bush started a war in which US massacred over 6 million people. It’s absolutely incredible how Americans absolutely don’t give a shit about all the atrocities their deplorable regime does around the globe

Blaming covid on Trump is quite the stretch given that there was no tangible difference between the approach that Trump and Biden admins took towards handling the pandemic. The media just stopped reporting the deaths on daily basis when democrats got into power. US deaths account for around 1.1 million, and a large portion of those deaths happened under democrats.

The reason people died was due to lack of a social safety net, lack of sick days, lack of free healthcare, and so on. Saying that people died because Trump politicized the virus is frankly nonsensical.

One of the best games I’ve played hands down.

The Stanley Parable was a great exploration of the nature of free will. It was a game that made me think about the nature of the relationship between me and the creator of the game.

How do you feel about financing a genocide? (kopnij.in)

I didn’t want to direct this question to Americans specifically because, at this point, other countries have shown support to Israel in one or the other way. If my country was financing this, I would be taking the streets. Shit, I’m right now in the hospital but all I can think about is protesting anyway just to feel I did...

I just love all these creative ways people find to say that they’re imbeciles without saying it explicitly.

Just imagine the headline we’d see in the west if this was happening in China.

Chinese programmer ordered to pay 1m yuan for using virtual private network (theguardian.com)

> A programmer in northern China has been ordered to pay more than 1 million yuan to the authorities for using a virtual private network (VPN), in what is thought to be the most severe individual financial penalty ever issued for circumventing China’s “great firewall.” The programmer, surnamed Ma, was issued with a penalty...

The comment was asking about China and not you.

yogthos,

This kind of reporting is the reason people in the west hate Chinese government.

US regime doesn’t even allow its citizens to visit Cuba let alone work there.

yogthos,
@yogthos@lemmy.ml avatar

Every single survey from China shows that vast majority of people support the government. Your thinking isn’t grounded in reality.

yogthos,
@yogthos@lemmy.ml avatar

This is what your choice looks like in practice:

“The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them.”

And this is precisely what research analyzing decades of policy shows:

What do our findings say about democracy in America? They certainly constitute troubling news for advocates of “populistic” democracy, who want governments to respond primarily or exclusively to the policy preferences of their citizens.

Meanwhile, imagine being so utterly ignorant to think that people in China don’t vote for their leaders. You should be embarrassed of yourself.

yogthos,
@yogthos@lemmy.ml avatar

No, those studies are done by western institutions lilke Harvard news.harvard.edu/…/long-term-survey-reveals-chine…

Meanwhile, the fact that you think anybody who doesn’t like the government in China is disappeared shows that you’re a deeply deluded individual. It’s absolutely incredible that a grown ass adult would believe that.

I really hate flat design, especially when it makes it difficult to tell what elements are interactive. Win 8 was a famous example where you couldn’t tell the diff between regular text and buttons.

yogthos,
@yogthos@lemmy.ml avatar

right, there’s nothing wrong with a minimal design as long as it doesn’t start negatively impacting UX

Photography ended up becoming a really expensive hobby for me. I started with a phone, and then realized I enjoyed doing wildlife photography, and you need a real camera with a decent zoom lens for that.

That was the first camera I got as well, and same story here. It’s a hobby that gets expensive pretty quickly.

While certainly would be Putin’s style, I would’ve expected them to wait until BRICS summit was over given that I doubt they wanted to remind everybody of the whole mutiny business.

What film, show or game that is not necessarily 'underated' didn't have the level of social impact it deserved. (kopnij.in) en

What’s the antithesis of Arrested Development, Firefly or The Big Lebowski? Those may never have ‘found their audience’ but over time seemed to recognised by everyone. What are the deep cuts that you liked but it feels like everyone has completely forgotten they even existed.

Is anyone else tired of having to see constant talk about Reddit. Can people just move on or go back?

yogthos,
@yogthos@lemmy.ml avatar

I mean it’s a media platform built by an oligarch, of course it’s a brainwashing tool.

yogthos,
@yogthos@lemmy.ml avatar

Exactly, the only reason people fear automation is due to capitalist relations where people are forced to work in order to live because the purpose of work is to produce further wealth for people who own capital.

However, this problem doesn’t exist in a socialist society where the purpose of work is to produce things everyone needs. If production of these things can be automated then it just means less work and more free time for the people.

Mastodon has a far bigger user base and hasn’t died out without ads, why would Lemmy?

A great read on how things started really getting out of hand with the fall of USSR because at that point neoliberals declared that there is no viable alternative www.hartford-hwp.com/archives/27c/046.html

yogthos,

Mastodon has millions of users now, and it’s a whole ecosystem of sites that have been running on user donations for many years now. The whole idea behind federation is that it’s distributed. With Reddit or X, all the users are on the same site, so a single host has to be able to deal with that volume. However, with distributed systems no single server needs to grow too big. Most servers have a few thousand users on them, and hosting costs for that are pretty reasonable. Only a small percentage of the users have to chip in to keep things running.

No, communists do not see AI as the enemy. Communists see the capitalist system as the enemy. We’re all for technological progress as long as technology is publicly owned.
