I mean visual novels are more graphic novel than audio book, especially since most of them don’t have voice acting.

But they’re still video games just as much as text-based-adventure games. You control the actions happening in the story and can interact with it, some having gaming elements like minigames or an inventory system. I don’t see why they wouldn’t be called games.

All trailers are ads. Any article promoting a game is an ad. A movie trailer is an ad. The only difference is whether people are interested in the content or not. It’s not some grand conspiracy that many people (me included) look forward to the Steam sale so they can buy games they want and be on the lookout for sales. This is a gaming community so this is very relevant to be posted here. Don’t be overdramatic.

This is cool and all but all these AI hype demos always show something extremely simple and overdone in the training data. Reminds me of those ChatGPT videos where someone writes “make me Pong in javascript” and gets surprised that it does despite the fact that it probably trained on 100,000+ Pong in Javascript scripts.

Yes, it made Breakout, very cool. Now ask it to do something new or make a game that’s more complicated than a game that’s been remade a million times. LLMs are very far away from making real games.

C) Gearbox announced a DLC for Risk of Rain 2 the same time they announced the mobile game, and they claimed they will support the game for many years to come. Their first thing wasn’t “immediately making a mobile game”.
